American Idol Contestant Brings ‘Good Vibes’ By Delivering Surprising Rendition

On Monday’s episode of American Idol, the talent and judges continued the competition in Hawaii, as the Top 26 competed to stay in the competition. The tone was immediately set as Elijah McCormick took the stage in Disney’s Aulani Resort— giving an upbeat version of a country favorite.

McCormick performed Chris Janson’s hit song ‘Good Vibes,’ with a joyful spin on the country tune.

Some viewers may consider the song choice to be a bit out of the box, however, McCormick is no stranger to putting his own unique touch on popular country songs.

He left a significant mark at the start of this season by delivering an R&B-inspired performance of Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road” during his audition. The song held a special meaning to him as he revealed to the judges that his journey to Idol was marked by a life-threatening car accident in 2019, which resulted in severe injuries that required him to relearn how to walk, talk, and sing. He has emerged as a popular contestant in Season 21, earning the show’s fan-voted Platinum Ticket and skipping the initial round of Hollywood Week.

Fans are now able to cast their votes for their favorite contestants, marking the first week of the voting process. With all of the Top 26 contestants having performed, the show will unveil the voting results next week, which will lead to the elimination of three contestants.
