It’s Elvis Month here at Circle, and we are kicking things off with a timeless classic, Honeymoon In Vegas! You don’t want to miss this sweet comedy/romance starring Nicolas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker and James Caan.
Not only was the movie a success, but so was the soundtrack which was based on Elvis’ iconic songs. But, here’s the twist. The soundtrack is filled with these famous classics by country artists as well as some rock and pop icons.
Billy Joel selected two of Elvis’ biggest hits, “All Shook Up” and “Heartbreak Hotel”. Bono picked the heartfelt ballad “Can’t Help Falling in Love” while John Mellencamp picked up the pace with “Jailhouse Rock”.
Bruce Springsteen’s cover of “Viva! Las Vegas” didn’t make the soundtrack but was featured in the movie.
Travis Tritt chose “Burnin’ Love”, Willie Nelson picked “Blue Hawaii,” and Dwight Yoakam turned in an eerie version of “Suspicious Minds”. Elvis’ former piano player, Tony Brown produced Vince Gill’s “That’s Alright”. He states, “I don’t listen to many movie soundtracks, but the lineup of artists on this album is pretty amazing…this pretty much covered not only Nashville country music but country music all together”.
Listen to these iconic renditions and watch the story of gambling losses and winning back love in Circle’s premiere of Honeymoon In Vegas airing Monday, July 25 at 9/8 p.m. CT here on Circle TV!
