Jon Pardi has officially been asked to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!
During Pardi’s Friday night (April 28) performance at the opening night of Stagecoach in Indio, California, Jon was joined on stage by Food Network star Guy Fieri who had a big surprise waiting for him! “Our good friend, Alan Jackson, from Nashville, Tennessee, has a message for you,” stated Fieri.
Fieri turned to the video screen, introducing a video from country music legend, Alan Jackson asking Pardi to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry! “I get the honor to invite you in front of all your Stagecoach friends out there to be the first native of California to become an official member of the Grand Ole Opry,” said Jackson.
Jon was also welcomed on stage by Dan Rogers, Grand Ole Opry Vice President and Executive producer, placing a famous Grand Ole Opry mic stand in front of Jon. “This guy makes the Opry happen. He debuted on the Opry stage almost 10 years ago, and we love it every time he comes onto the show,” stated Rogers.
This invitation is particularly special for Jon, as he marks the first California native to become a member of the Opry. And what better way to be asked than in front of his home state crowd!
“I didn’t see this one coming!” Jon emotionally exclaimed after taking a celebratory shot of tequila. “I moved to Nashville chasing a dream at 22 years old and now I’m here. I love you guys and I love country music.”
Jon will become the 225th member of the Grand Ole Opry. Stay tuned for updates on when his official Opry induction will take place!
In the meantime, you can soon catch Jon Pardi on his Mr. Saturday Night world tour kicking off in August with guests Midland, Jackson Dean, Randall King, and more. Jon and his wife Summer also recently welcomed their first child together in February, a daughter named Presley.
