Julia Cole’s Opry Outfit Has Some Special History

A magical moment took place at the Opry this past Saturday, June 4. Famed actor and musician, Charles Esten, who is a frequent performer at the Grand Ole Opry and recently celebrated playing 150 nights, brought out country singer-songwriter Julia Cole out to the Opry stage for an unforgettable performance of the classic tune, “Country Roads.”

The minute Julia took the stage, her sparkling jacket was hard to miss, but the jacket has more meaning than what meets the eye. Julia took to social media to explain that her grandfather “Poppy” was a huge country music fan and always loved the Opry and listening to Julia sing. Sadly, her grandfather passed away on New Years and did not get to see Julia perform on the historic stage.

To honor her grandfather under the lights of the Opry, her jacket was made with pieces of her grandfather’s shirt so that he will always be with her. There are so many beautiful stories like these behind every artist who steps on that stage. Click here to see the jacket and the special performance here.
