Luke Bryan Had Goosebumps After This Idol Contestant Sang a Lainey Wilson Song

Country darling and American Idol contestant Marybeth Byrd took to the Idol stage to perform a heartfelt rendition of the Lainey Wilson hit, “Heart Like a Truck.” Marybeth made the Top 24 on Season 21 of American Idol and has joined the Idol team as they head down to Hawaii at Disney’s Aulani to start Live performances for the Top 20!

Marybeth Byrd was a standout from the auditions as Luke Bryan stated, “When you start singing, there’s this magic and I see a very bright future.” After singing classics like Carrie Underwood’s “Flat On The Floor” and SteelDriver’s “If It Hadn’t Been for Love”, Byrd knew she needed another showstopping country tune to make her stand out.

Idol Guest Mentor Noah Cyrus worked closely with Marybeth to help bring out the emotion during her performance of “Heart Like A Truck.” Cyrus commented to Byrd, “Don’t be afraid. You have such a beautiful voice there is nothing you need to be afraid of.” Let’s just say Marybeth Byrd left it all out there on the stage. So much so, that judge Luke Bryan leaned over to Katy Perry stating that Marybeth’s voice gave him chills. Idol judge Lionel Richie even stated that Byrd just has this special “twang thang”.
