Southern Style Banana Pudding

It's been said that Elvis loved everything bananas, so we whipped up our own rendition of this decadent classic! Crispy vanilla wafers, creamy custard, and bananas...What more could you want! This treat is perfect to enjoy while watching classic Elvis movies on Circle Network Monday nights in August at 9/8c pm!

  • 6 eggs separated
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 & 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • Dash of salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • Vanilla wafers
  • 5-6 bananas sliced
  • pinch cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar


  • Beat egg yolks in a bowl
  • Pour in milk
  • Stir in sugar, cornstarch, and salt
  • Cook over a double boiler and stir consistently to keep from lumping
  • Cook until smooth and thick and remove from heat
  • Add vanilla
  • Make layer of vanilla wafers and bananas in baking dish
  • Pour part of custard on top. Repeat twice
  • Beat egg whites until stiff
  • Add cream of tartar and powdered sugar
  • Spread mixture on top of custard
  • Bake for 5-7 minutes on 400 degrees until lightly browned
