During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly at Netflix’s Tudum: A Global Fan Event, the ‘Outer Banks’ star candidly discussed his romance with Kelsea Ballerini and shared his reaction to being referred to as a “golden retriever” boyfriend by the internet.
“I’ll take the job, I’ll take it,” Stokes said. He also mentioned that the nickname is perfect for him because his dog, Milo, is also a golden retriever and German shepherd mix.
For those who are unfamiliar with the term “golden retriever boyfriend,” Urban Dictionary defines the phrase as “a significant other that is easygoing and makes it fairly simple to maintain a happy and fulfilling relationship.”
When asked about his support for Ballerini, Stokes expressed his admiration for his “talented” girlfriend, saying, “Oh my gosh, she seriously is the best human being on planet Earth and she’s so damn talented,” he beamed.
In February, Ballerini officially confirmed their romantic relationship while appearing on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, following a month of speculation surrounding their relationship.
At the time, she said she was “just vibing” with Stokes and enjoying the journey after never having dated before.
