Craig Morgan Sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve on the Grand Ole Opry Stage

Grand Ole Opry member Craig Morgan gave the ultimate surprise to the packed Opry crowd on Saturday evening, July 29.

During the Saturday night show at the Grand Ole Opry, Morgan enlisted in and was sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve by General Andrew Poppas, Commander, US Army Forces Command.

“I’m excited to once again serve my country and be all I can be in hopes of encouraging others to be a part of something greater than ourselves,” Morgan shared in a press release. “I love being an artist but I consider it a true privilege and honor to work with what I believe are the greatest of Americans, my fellow soldiers. God Bless America. Go Army.”

This significant moment was not his first brush with military service. Before, Morgan served for seventeen years in the Army and Army Reserve with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, holding the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant and working as a Fire Support Specialist. He possesses certifications in Airborne, Air Assault, and Rappel Master.

Now, he’s embarking on a new journey to serve his country as a soldier in the Army Reserve. Despite his new role, he will continue touring and releasing new music in his civilian career while serving our country in the Army Reserve as a Staff Sergeant and Warrant Officer candidate.

Recently, Craig Morgan had the opportunity to team up with his old battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as part of Circle Network’s original series, Inside The Base, where leading country artists train with America’s active-duty troops and learn what it takes to protect and serve our country. As a former 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper, Craig relived his Army days as he linked with his old battalion for an adrenaline pumping obstacle course, suited up for a hair-raising encounter with trained military attack dogs, and took to the skies in a combat Chinook. Additionally, Morgan is set to bring back his well-received God, Family, Country Tour 2023 in collaboration with Operation Finally Home. The tour will begin on September 20 in Englewood, NJ, with Morgan and special guests The Reeves Brothers performing in thirteen theaters and auditoriums until the end of October.
