Country Pop duo, Dan + Shay, has teamed up with Popstar Charlie Puth to create a brand new break up song called “That’s Not How This Works.”
Puth collaborated with Dan Smyers and Jordan Reynolds to create the song. The story revolves around a person struggling to cope with a breakup. Despite his attempts to move on, his ex constantly gives him false hope of a romantic reunion, leaving him feeling defeated.
“Thought the day you disappeared that it was over /Didn’t even hear you leavin’ / Saw you with someone and thought that it was closure / But you still tell me that you need me.”
“Stop reminding me of when we said forever / I know exactly what you’re doin’ / When you say, ‘You need to drop off all my sweaters’ / It’s just one of your еxcuses.”
“That’s Not How This Works” is the first new music that Dan + Shay have released since their last album Good Things released in 2021.
The exciting collab comes just a week after Dan + Shay took to social media to update fans that they were currently working on new music.
