Eric Church Buys Ownership of the Charlotte Hornets From Micheal Jordan

Eric Church has made a new career move.

On Friday, June 16, a press release confirmed the sale of the Charlotte Hornets to a group of investors, which includes big names such as country superstar Eric Church and rapper J. Cole.

The Charlotte Hornets, an NBA team located in North Carolina, was sold by basketball legend Michael Jordan. Jordan had owned the team for over a decade.

Although the transaction has been agreed between Jordan and the fellow buyers, the transfer of ownership is still pending approval from the NBA Board of Governors before it can be finalized.

While Church has not released an official statement regarding the purchase, he has consistently shown his support for North Carolina basketball teams.

In April 2022, the singer made headlines for canceling a concert in San Antonio, Texas, in order to watch the University of North Carolina Tar Heels participate in the NCAA’s Final Four basketball tournament.

“This is also the most selfish thing I’ve ever asked the Choir to do: to give up your Saturday night plans with us so that I can have this moment with my family and sports community,” he wrote in a message sent through Ticketmaster. “However, it’s that same type of passion felt by the people who fill the seats at our concerts that makes us want to be part of a crowd at a game of this significance.”

The show was later rescheduled for the fans who bought tickets.
