Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have been dancing through life together since 2006. Their love story is like a chart-topping country song in itself— filled with ups, downs, and a whole lot of happiness. Although it hasn’t been an easy journey, the couple have proven to stand the test of time, becoming one of the most beloved couples in country music.
They Met in College
Back in 1998, Luke and Caroline bumped into each other at a small bar called Dingus Magee’s in Statesboro, Georgia. They were both students at Southern Georgia University—Luke was a senior, and Caroline was just a freshman.
They began dating until Luke graduated and set off to Nashville to chase his music dreams. During a candid conversation on Get Real With Caroline Hobby, Caroline admitted that at the time, they weren’t quite on the same wavelength, and she was taken aback by Luke’s early discussions about marriage. Ultimately, they eventually chose to go their separate ways.
They Got Back Together After 5 Years
The couple eventually took different paths, with Luke making his way to Nashville to pursue his musical dreams after college, while Caroline completed her college education and embarked on her own career. Remarkably, after five years, fate intervened, and their paths crossed once more.
“I was playing a little bar in Statesboro and she just happened to kinda be in town,” Luke told HuffPost. “We kinda saw each other and talked a little bit and then started emailing back and forth a little bit. And she was like, ‘Hey, you want to come to my family’s Christmas party?’ I went to the party and the rest is history.”
Luke and Caroline Get Married
On December 8, 2006, the couple officially became husband and wife in the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands. However, they faced financial challenges during this time, particularly as Luke was dedicated to building his music career. Luke has shared that it was Caroline who played a crucial role in keeping them financially stable during the early stages of their marriage before his career began to flourish.
Experiencing Love and Loss
Shortly after, in 2008 and 2010, the couple joyfully welcomed two sons, Bo and Tate, into their family.
But with all the love, the Bryan family has also faced heart-wrenching losses. Luke’s sister, Kelly, suddenly passed away in 2007, and seven years later Kelly’s husband Ben “Lee” Cheshire passed away due to a sudden heart attack, leaving 3 children behind. Luke and Caroline opened their hearts and home, taking in their three nieces and nephews as their own.
Still Going Strong After 17 Years
Skipping ahead in their journey, Luke and Caroline are now on the way to celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary.
“She’s the perfect kind of stability that I need on all levels. She wakes up at 5:30 and makes the kids lunches and lets me sleep in,” Bryan told The Boot. “My family still really dedicates themselves to me and works their schedules around what I have going on, so I look forward to one day, when maybe those roles will change a little bit. There will always be all of this hype. At the end of the day, she’ll call me out.”
