Team Blake’s Fan Favorite Advances To ‘The Voice’ Semi-Finals

During the live playoffs round that aired on Monday, May 1, Grace West, the last country singer on Blake Shelton’s team in Season 23 of The Voice, delivered a performance that left her coach feeling proud.

Grace West, who already has a publishing deal in Nashville, chose to sing “Love Is Alive” by The Judds for her chance at moving on to the semi-finals. Despite not having a duet partner to fill in the other half of the song, West took on the challenge and delivered a tender-hearted rendition, making the song her own.

Despite being only 19 years old, West has proven that her music knowledge goes a long way, singing country classics that were popular way before she was born.

“I’m such a fan of you. I love you. You’re so young. You’re 19, and you sing all the great music I grew up on,” Kelly Clarkson told the singer. “You have a very flawless way of singing country music. It’s just in your bones. I love this song so much, but I don’t think this song showcased the best of you, and I can’t wait to see that. I am looking forward to what you’re going to do.”

As the last country singer on Shelton’s team, West has a huge role to fill during Shelton’s last season.

“I’ve just been excited. I have this very unique young artist that I get to work with on my last season,” Shelton told her. “The fact that you’re the last person I hit my button for, it’s just been really exciting to me. You did another great job today.”

West will move on to Live Semi-Finals in the competition, along with fellow Team Blake contender NOIVAS. The Top 8 will be revealed when The Voice returns Monday, May 8.
