Throwback: David Lee Roth Turns Van Halen’s “Jump” Into a Country Song

Remember when David Lee Roth went country?

David Lee Roth from the iconic band Van Halen ingeniously transformed the band’s chart-topping track “Jump” into a captivating country rendition during an unforgettable late-night stop a few years back.

Back in 2006, Roth made an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he showcased the country transformation. The performance was a part of the album titled “Strummin’ with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen,” a country-style homage to the legendary rock group.

Watch the performance below:

Roth served as the frontman of Van Halen from 1974 to 1985 before departing to embark on a solo career. He co-founded the band alongside siblings Alex and Eddie Van Halen, as well as Michael Anthony. The group recorded the track “Jump” in 1983, which later became a part of their 1984 album. With its prominent keyboard melody, this rock anthem soared to become the band’s most triumphant song, reaching the No.1 position on the Billboard charts.
