Throwback: Watch Taylor Swift’s Very First Interview From 2005

Prior to embarking on world tours, achieving record-breaking album sales, and attaining immense fame, Taylor Swift lived the life of an ordinary high school student and this interview proves it.

WSMV’s Terry Bulger conducted Swift’s very first television interview during her high school years at Hendersonville High School in Tennessee back in 2005.

The interview captures Taylor Swift engaging in typical high school conversations with her friends, and it also shows a preview of her then newly released song “Tear Drops on My Guitar.”

At only 14, Swift made her way to Nashville to pursue her music career.

“Most people find out what they’re going to be when they’re in college,” Swift said. “But I guess for me it just came a little earlier.”

The risk she took turned out to be worthwhile, as it caught the attention of country sensation Toby Keith, who ended up signing her to his record label.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get to a point where I won’t see him and be like ‘Oh my God that’s Toby Keith,’” Swift said in her interview.

It’s likely that even Swift herself couldn’t have anticipated the tremendous success her career would achieve while she was strolling through her high school hallways.
