‘American Idol’ Winner Iam Tongi Graduates High School, Gives Heartfelt Performance to Class

Iam Tongi, the recent declared winner of American Idol, has achieved yet another significant milestone in his life by graduating from Decatur High School in Federal Way, Washington.

To celebrate the occasion, he graced the auditorium with a mesmerizing performance, marking his and all his classmates journey as the class of 2023.

Tongi expressed his gratitude to the entire staff and teachers at the school, acknowledging their support. He then dedicated the heartfelt performance to his beloved classmates. Tongi went on to elaborate on his choice of song for the graduation ceremony, revealing that it held a special significance for him. This particular song was the very same one he had the privilege of performing on the Idol stage, alongside the other talented Top 12 contestants, after securing his victory.

“When I won American Idol, I sang this song as my last song and I want to sing it for you guys, cause we’re all winners today,” he told the audience.

Tongi was named as Idol’s winner on May 21 after a tense grand finale after facing off against finalists Megan Danielle and Colin Stough.

Throughout his Idol journey, Tongi carried the memory of his late father, who had tragically passed away a few months prior to his audition. He treasured his father’s precious gift, a guitar, holding it close to his heart as a means to establish a connection with the audience through his compelling storytelling. With each performance, Tongi consistently moved both fellow contestants and the Idol judges, leaving a lasting impact on their hearts.

Recently, he released his debut single ‘I’ll Be Seeing You,’ in honor of his father.
