The Grand Ole Opry audience got a special surprise on Wednesday, October 25! Not only did the packed house have the honor of celebrating Craig Morgan‘s 15th Opry Anniversary, they were also treated to a guest appearance by Jelly Roll. The moment was particularly touching as Jelly Roll has openly discussed the impact the song has had on him. During a pivotal time in Jelly Roll’s life, he visited the Grand Ole Opry where he heard Craig Morgan sing “Almost Home.”

In fact, in June of 2022, Jelly Roll and Craig Morgan performed an emotional rendition of the song together on the Opry stage for the first time. It was then that Jelly Roll shared to the crowd, “Shortly after I got out of jail, I sat right there in row 7 and I cried like a baby and watched him sing. I remember thinking ‘I want to make people feel the way he makes me feel right now.”

Knowing what that night and song meant to Jelly Roll, Craig Morgan presented Jelly Roll with a handwritten copy of the lyrics. Watch the full video below.

Flash forward to 2023, the two have also recorded a studio version of “Almost Home” that can be found on Craig Morgan’s most recent EP, Enlisted, which features new takes on four of Morgan’s biggest hits along with two new tracks and includes appearances by Trace Adkins, Luke Combs, Gary LeVox, Jelly Roll, Blake Shelton, and Lainey Wilson.

Trace Adkins also joined in to celebrate Craig’s 15th Opry Anniversary where the two performed a duet of “That Ain’t Gonna Be Me,” also featured on the Enlisted EP.

Craig’s love for the Opry is apparent, so much so, he recently was sworn into the US Army Reserve right on the Opry stage. Congratulations on 15 years as a Grand Ole Opry member, Craig! We can’t wait to see the next milestones you share with the Opry family.
